ROLE PURPOSE

The Chief of Staff role is a key enabler of leadership, support, sharing and culture across Rare and other studios, it’s a senior role and a great opportunity for someone to fast track their leadership potential and be the heartbeat of a busy game studio who make games the world doesn’t have!

You are a natural people person, a collaborator and evangelist for culture, you are happy operating in fuzzy boundaries where the future is not defined, and reality has not yet been shaped. You work hard and can operationally shape something where there is input and options and turn that into real change that people can get behind.

Being comfortable with different types of people is essential; our team is an awesome set of unique and innovative world makers so being able to bridge creative, technical, business, marketing, finance and leadership appeals to your sense of every day is a different opportunity.

It’s crucial you are ambitious, self-motivated with a learn it all outlook and ambition to facilitate results for the greater good!

This role is a direct report of the Rare Studio Head so will part of the senior leadership team with exposure and input to the strategic direction of Rare and other partner studios. As a trusted advisor to the Studio Head this role is about bringing fresh perspectives, supporting the studio to resolve challenging issues, identifying relevant issues, clarifying opinions and assumptions, and driving for resolution shaping strategic and operational decisions.

It’s a key partnership role that facilitates senior leaders at Rare to scale to be at their best and Rare’s culture to be front of mind in our strategy and execution.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the internal comms rhythm of the studio including running and organising:
  • Studio All Hands and Q&A
  • SLT & ELT meetings
  • Celebrations of culture and people in the studio
    • Manage any external comms and studio presence relating to Rare as a studio
    • Lead studio initiatives outside of the games we make and ensure they have continued focus
    • Partner with the studio leadership team on roadmaps and check in reviews
    • Be active as a partner with other teams at Xbox and Xbox Game Studios
    • People management of D&I and Administrative functions
    • Provides advice and influence across multiple areas of expertise and builds broader capability
    • Encourages Rare to continue to have a supportive and evolving, learning culture

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • 7+ years of proven leadership experience across different shapes and sizes of team
    • Outstanding organisation skills to organize a busy workload and deliver impact
    • Strong attention to detail and focus on execution and expectation setting
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to work with people at different levels across the studio including senior leaders
    • Capable of strong individual contribution and influence across non-direct reporting teams
    • Ability to maintain good judgment in fast-paced environments
    • Capable of defining a path through ambiguity
    • Passion for making others great
    • Experience fostering an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are valued
