The KE funding landscape is changing post Brexit, given the loss of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), emerging streams such as UK Shared Prosperity (UKSPF) and a greater emphasis on the place based agenda as detailed in the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Strategy and individual Research Council Delivery Plans. To ensure Lancaster is best placed to respond to the opportunities and challenges of this environment, a number of new KE Development and Delivery roles have been created.

These roles are critical in ensuring Lancaster can rapidly mobilise resources across the KE team to proactively develop collaborations for KE activity enabled by a broad range of mechanisms and funding from both the public and private sector. The roles will sit at an institutional level, but will be deployed wherever there are requirements in specific domain areas. This represents a new approach for Lancaster, but a necessary one given the new landscape and the need to be more agile in how we undertake our KE activities.

The roles encompass a number of elements of KE activity including:
  • Set up and ongoing management KE projects and initiatives.
  • Establishing and managing networks and relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Recruitment of organisations onto specific KE projects, diagnosing their needs and connecting to appropriate academic colleagues.
  • Supporting the development, delivery and associated administration of collaborative projects between external organisations and Lancaster.
  • Coordination of marketing and communication activities (both internal and external) related to current and forthcoming KE initiatives
  • Advising wider KE staff in the development of new applications for KE funding, guide them through the funding body rules and regulations where appropriate.
We are looking to appoint individuals who can grow into the roles and bring new approaches to our KE activities. They will be expected to collaborate right across the Lancaster KE team with an ability to be flexible to support a variety of key local, regional and national challenges including but not limited to healthcare, net zero, entrepreneurial leadership and the secure digital/data driven economy.

Interested candidates should contact Dr Mark Rushforth, Associate Director of Enterprise and Innovation (m.rushforth@lancaster.ac.uk), for any questions or informal discussions regarding these roles.

We warmly welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of their age, religion, gender identity or expression, race, disability or sexual orientation, and are committed to promoting diversity, and equality of opportunity. As a truly global and inclusive university, it is no surprise that Lancaster University is committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive and fulfil their potential. Students from over one hundred countries make up our diverse campus and over half of our staff come from outside of the UK. Lancaster is an open and welcoming community that values equality and diversity. Our promotion of global values ensures Lancaster is a welcoming environment for all students and staff.

We are proactive in engagement with our staff to help us to understand the lived experiences of our university community and to understand how we are doing in creating a fairer and more inclusive University. Our multi-faith Chaplaincy Centre is a welcoming place for people of all faiths and none. It includes facilities for the Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islam and Jewish faiths and also a Muslim Prayer Room.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.

We will also encourage flexible and elements of remote working given the nature of the roles, learning from our experience during the pandemic in ensuring the role holder is well supported in doing so.
