Our client is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of decorating sundries for the DIY industry.

Following their recent acquisition by a Private Equity firm and enjoying sustained investment and subsequent growth, we are delighted to be supporting them in the appointment of an Account Director.

Reporting into the Managing Director, the Account Director will provide executive leadership to a dedicated group of national accounts, whilst managing a small team of sales managers and providing the board of management with guidance around strategic growth and sales focus.

Key accountability of the role is as follows:

  • Managing and exceeding sales and profits of key accounts and generating an appropriate annual growth budget to be approved at board.
  • Setting customer & new account growth vision and planning
  • Initiating regular customer reviews, managing price and tender negotiations
  • Leading all relationships and interactions with designated customers to build strong relationships
  • Ultimately resposible for performance management of customer requirements within our business and ensuring compliance with customer performance metrics.
  • Building internal cross functional support to deliver upon strategic account plans and integrate into the overall company business plan with clearly defined success factors identified.
  • Gain support for key customer growth at board level and across and through the organisation.
  • Managing existing customers and identifing new potential segments and markets that will support the businesses growth ambitions
  • Assessing customer ranges, competitor activities and identifying product development options
  • Management of UK Independents Sales team (*2) with agreed targets and monthly reviews

To be considered for this role you must be able to display the following:

  • Proven track record of growth delivery in revenue AND margin.
  • Gravitas to be respected within key customers and internally
  • Understanding value propositions with an ability to be able to translate to a customer benefit.
  • Significant experience gained within a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with DIY, Discount Retailers, Independent retail, especially within building products segments
  • Knowledge of paint, coatings, fillers & adhesives are ideal but not essential

Please note this role is a hybrid opportunity with expectation that you will be based at HQ in East Yorkshire 2/3 days per week with the rest of your time spent visibly with customers.
