Want to spend your days on the water? Love sharing the joy of sport with your students and leading them on lake adventures? Long for less admin and more time outdoors? Then you could be the sports instructor we’re looking for.

We need an experienced instructor with a passion for water and a talent for teaching, to deliver kayak and canoe lessons on Ullswater all year round. You’ll ideally be skilled in archery and other outdoor activities too, and able to provide an enticing programme for guests both on and off the water. We’re looking for a switched-on individual with solid instructor hours already behind them and a flair for making guests smile.

You’ll embody the spirit of Another Place with your friendly welcome, positive can-do attitude and attention to detail, helping every learner in your group get the most out of their session. Whatever the conditions, you’ll brighten up the lakeshore and everybody in every class you take will come away fired up to get back in the water as soon as they can.

You’ll Need To
  • Deliver fun, engaging, safe and informative kayak, canoe and (ideally) archery sessions.
  • Assist in the preparation, organisation and running of the above activities.
  • Deliver sports instruction in accordance with National Governing Body syllabuses and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work with the Swim Club manager to ensure lesson plans, risk assessments, guest safety forms and key paperwork (SOPs, EAPs) is completed.
  • Stay up to date with water rescue techniques and ensure safety cover is of the highest standard both on and off the water and in accordance with written guidelines.
  • Familiarise yourself with local conditions and stay alert to any prevailing hazards.
  • Take personal responsibility for the maintenance, repair and periodic checks of all Another Place sports equipment.
Essential Qualifications And Experience
  • UK coaching certificate Level 2 minimum (Level 2 Kayak or Level 2 Canoe on BCU)
  • 4* sea kayak, white water or canoe.
  • Valid Outdoor First Aid certificate.
  • Experience of working in a water sports environment.
  • Previous customer service experience.
Desirable Qualifications And Experience
  • Archery teaching experience.
  • GB Archery certificate (if delivering archery).

  • Focused on giving guests the best experience before, during and after their lesson.
