The paediatric unit is one of the busiest in the West Midlands with over 13,000 inpatient admissions and 15,000 outpatient attendances a year. It serves a diverse ethnic and socioeconomic community locally, but is a sub-speciality centre and PICU provider for children from further afield. In 2011 we moved into a state of the art £370M hospital building. The trust website is www.uhnm.nhs.uk where there is a specific paediatric section

General Paediatrics/PICU:There are excellent teaching and training opportunities at with weekly radiological meetings, case presentations and SHO teaching by SpRs. There are also resuscitation scenarios, journal club, epilepsy meetings and once a month a dedicated afternoon of teaching. Trainees are expected to perform and present an audit project during their placement and are supported to attend regional training programmes. T
