Are you a recently qualified Mechanical Engineering Apprentice looking for a role in project engineering, whereby you would design and develop bespoke sensing solutions for high-end customers?

This role would suit a qualified mechanical engineering apprentice with the following qualifications/ experience/ attributes:

  • Minimum Level 3 BTEC in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical preferable but others considered).
  • Proficient in Computer-Aided Design systems (preferably Solidworks) to produce 3D model and 2D drawings for manufacture.
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of the use of ERP systems.
  • Basic understanding of electronic components.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Takes the initiative when confronted with design challenges.
  • Is able to multi-manage projects.
  • Used to working at a fast pace.
  • Having a “get it right-first-time” attitude.

The role will be working within a dynamic, fast-paced team where you will be responsible for the new product development from the conceptualisation phase to the design, development and testing phases of prototypes (where required) before the release/launch of the conforming final assembly into mass production. This will involve, but is not limited to:

  • Design, Development and creation of manufacturing drawings for components.
  • Producing a top-level assembly instruction for the production department to follow.
  • Design/ Sourcing of bespoke tooling for the assembly process.
  • Work with external suppliers supporting manufacturing activities of designed components. Work may also include identifying suitable suppliers at the procurement stage.
  • Part Setup within ERP.
  • Actioning Change Requests.
  • Providing technical assistance to the Production Department.

The successful applicant once settled, will be required to work mainly independently and work to tight deadlines under the Engineering Manager, where regular project reviews will be undertaken to monitor progress.
