Role description:

The Junior Software Programmer will be required to work as an integral part of the IT Development team. The candidate will help to develop and support of our internal applications, ERP and in-store systems.

The Junior Programmer will need to be comfortable working in a busy, dynamic, fast-paced, flexible organisation and as such will need to thrive in such a situation. Within the development, environment priorities will change rapidly, and the Programmer will be required to change projects seamlessly without prior notice.

The Programmer will work with like-minded, confident, friendly, and proactive people.

Reporting to the Development Lead, the junior software Programmer will work in a fast-moving, delivery-focused environment. The candidate will receive training and gain experience working with some of our primary development technologies:

Preferred – experience with

Java, Python, C#, C++, C or COBOL

Oracle SQL and PL/SQL

Google cloud platform

Apache Camel, Kafka

Training and development

· Linux

· Agile methodology

· Version control

· Testing

· React

Key responsibilities:

· Design, develop, test, and deploy applications

· Analysis of technical requirements and writing technical documentation

· Solution analysis and design, creating task breakdown and planning.

· Ensuring that all development adheres to defined coding standards/guidelines

· Monitoring the application support queue, and responding to assigned support requests

· Reporting progress to the Development Lead and/or mentor

Experience:

· 2 – 3 years of programming experience in astructured programming language(s)

· Analytical and detailed approach to problem-solving

· Keen to learn new technologies

· Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise, organise, and manage own workload with minimal supervision

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Ability to work well in a team environment
