Applications are invited for the position of Junior Clinical Fellows (Lower Level) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Potential for extension up to 12 months will be assessed in the initial contract period and may be granted subject to satisfactory appraisal. Further extension to a maximum of 24 months total contract period will be ongoing.

The Clinical Fellow will be primarily based at Grange University Hospital(GUH) but may have duties in one or more of the other hospitals in the Health Board. GUH our new Specialist and Critical Care Centre provides a centre of excellence in Gwent to treat our most seriously ill patients, or those with significant injuries, and is the designated trauma unit for Gwent. The hospital has 560 beds (including trollies and cots) and features a 24-hour Acute Assessment Unit, Emergency Department and Helicopter Pad. It provides a 24/7 Emergency Service for patients that need specialist and critical care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be provided support and formal clinical supervision by Consultants to further their career portfolio and will be granted study and annual leave as that of recognised training posts. They will be encouraged and expected to participate in audits, reviews, journal club presentations, Departmental meetings and teaching.

The Unit offers a very active and exciting post-graduate teaching programme. There are excellent Postgraduate Medical facilities available in a recently refurbished Postgraduate Centre.
