Analyst / Developer – MS Amlin Investment Management Limited
Effectively work as a member in the new development and operations team, within MS AIML Operations, to assist in the implementation of technical solutions along with the effective and efficient running of the numerous information systems. As a consequence, this role is primarily a hybrid between analysis, automation, and development. You will play an integral part within the team to contribute to the evolution of the operations technical environment to help deal with future business growth.
This is an exciting role for someone with a passion for technology with the desire to develop the key skills required to thrive in an Investment Management department in a large global organisation. The role will initially involve the transformation of existing manual processes, through automation, using contemporary development tools. The technology stack is, principally but not limited to, Microsoft Azure, C#, .NET, and SQL server.
About The Job
What you will spend your time doing:
While there is rarely a ‘typical’ day within this role, here is a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:
  • Working with the MS AIML DevOps Team to facilitate development priorities and enhance functionality.
  • Be enthusiastic about developing and enhancing current business processes. These are, predominantly built, using Excel with VBA at present.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and vendors, to identify action plans and close issues identified in gap analysis to data quality policy.
  • Take part in code reviews, planning and refinement meetings with the Senior Developer.
  • Be comfortable to discuss innovative ideas and solutions and develop new functionality using the development lifecycle.
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain your own work and provide support on it to colleagues, if required.
  • Work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure user requirements are met.
  • Consult with IT support, providing sufficient information and direction when system failures take place to enable further investigation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the Investor Services, Portfolio Management and Quant Risk teams, IT, and other business areas.

What you will need:
For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include:
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline.
  • Advanced Excel skills including some VBA.
  • 1+ years’ experience in database development, automation and reporting using SQL (SQL Server or similar).
  • A good grasp of at least one programming language like C#, Python and/or JavaScript is desirable along with any exposure to one or more of .NET, JIRA, Azure DevOps (Pipelines, CI/CD), Web Frameworks, SSIS or GIT.
  • Basic knowledge and/or interest in financial products – i.e., FX, Equities and Derivatives.
  • Willingness to partner with others to understand requirements, manage expectations, solve problems, and deliver solutions.
