Java Team Leader – Cheltenham - £50,000 - £55,000

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to be a leader within a highly successful global payroll services business? Are you an innovative and experienced developer?

My client a global leader in their space, innovative company, based in US, Europe and Singapore recognized for delivering an outstanding customer experience and service levels.

This a unique opportunity for a highly experienced and motivated Lead or Senior Developer who wants to be part of this rapidly expanding business, providing expertise to develop new systems and to extend the capabilities of our current platforms.

Key objectives of the role

  • Leading a team of Java Developers and taking responsibility for the development processes in place
  • Evaluate current development processes to determine areas for improvement and ensure key milestones within the Development Roadmap are met
  • Establish a strong relationship with key stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle to work collaboratively to ensure objectives are achieved
  • Engage with product development team members to encourage good process, ownership and accountability and positivity
  • Work with the Product Development Manager and other team members to evaluate current workplans and any potential impacts to those plans
  • Engage in the monthly planning process, ensuring clear understanding of objectives and team alignment
  • Identify competencies, skills gaps, and training needs of the team members and work with the Product Development Manager to address any those gaps / needs
  • Provide performance feedback, mentoring and day to day coaching to team members

Skills Needed -

  • Experience of the whole Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring others
  • A passion for technology and an inquisitive mind to dig into how things work
  • Professional java development experience gained through exposure to the full development lifecycle
  • Experience of financial systems, and web-based systems are a significant advantage
