Job description

What’s the role?

As the senior transport clerk for the Tesco Widnes depot, you will be assisting in leading and developing the transport team. You will provide general administrative support to the onsite Tesco teams; ensuring daily and weekly deadlines are achieved.


What will I be responsible for?

  • Leading the transport team on a day to day basis providing support through time management, task appointing and decision making in order to achieve performance targets
  • Minimising costs to the business by fully utilising all resources within the team, being aware of how incorrect information effects ESL budget performance
  • Continually monitoring and updating internal tracking systems, ensuring delivery, cost and performance information is all up to date
  • Dealing with Isotrak compliance, liaising with national planning and Isotrak to make sure all information is present and correct
  • Completing KPI reports as required – these include ensuring the capture of accurate case and cage information
  • Deputising for the assistant transport manager as point of contact with the customer, attending conference calls and morning meetings
  • Monitoring the fleet servicing to make sure the depot complies with customer requirements
  • Reviewing processes i.e. conference call data, new store openings and store risk assessments on an on-going basis in conjunction with your manager to ensure they are current and reflect best practice
  • Assisting in developing the team through structured process of performance management, providing and reviewing objectives for your team and individuals

What kind of person are you looking for?

Ideally you will have had experience in a similar role and a sound knowledge of an FMCG on site operation. There is a strong requirement to be flexible, articulate and able to cope at times when placed under pressure due to the changing environment. You will need to have a high level of flexibility, commitment and motivation and be able to use your own initiative. You will also need to be assertive with an outgoing nature, able to cope well in pressured situations, meeting customer expectations and requirements.
