Band 7 registered Psychologist (or about to qualify Band 6) for Pathways Complex Needs Service at HMYOI Aylesbury. Full time & Permanent.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated band 7 registered psychologist – or applicants who are about to qualify Band 6) with experience of working within custody, secure service or with young people presenting with complex needs to support the Pathways team within HMP Aylesbury Young Offenders Institution.

This post is full time and is permanent. The service forms part of the National Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) strategy for high-risk high harm offenders with significant personality difficulties from the South of England and Wales. It is part of the North London Forensic Service (NLFS), which is part of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. The post is based within the Pathways Complex Needs Service at HMP Aylesbury YOI that caters for prisoners from across the establishment.

This post will work alongside the Occupational, Family, and Art Therapists, Psychologists and Prison officers from the Pathways service in providing a diverse therapy programme. You will be expected to contribute to assessment and treatment planning of those prisoners in the service and run sessions according to the needs of those in the service. The Complex Needs Service provides excellent opportunities for professional development through both in-house and external training opportunities, as well as regular supervision.

Successful candidates will have strong engagement and motivation skills and be able to work well with service users with complex needs and a forensic history. Effective written and verbal communication skills with a working knowledge the occupational therapy process are also essential. The successful candidate would start following successful employment checks and prison vetting.
