Purchasing Assistant

Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Assistant to join our extremely reputable, family-run SME based in Sittingbourne, Kent. This business provides quality solutions that empower their global client base. To further facilitate our growth plans, we are looking to recruit a talented, dynamic individual to assist with the logistics and supply chain operations of the company, ensuring that products and services are delivered to clients in a timely and efficient manner. Responsibilities
- Checking and processing direct orders through our ERP system.
- Running reports in OrderWise (ERP system) to determine what needs to be ordered.
- Placing purchase orders with various suppliers for stock (either for orders or to add into our stock holding).
- Checking order confirmations from suppliers
- Maintaining of ERP system data to ensure purchasing data is correct available to the rest of the organisation.
- Monitoring and reducing backorders by purchasing stocks to allow orders to be sent in full.
- Reviewing and maintaining agreed levels of critical (high usage) stocks (using a stock health report)
- Chase any outstanding orders requested from a supplier.
- Resolve any issues arising from supply chains and escalate to line manager when required.
- Liaise upstream to discuss any ongoing supplier issues, or changes in the supplier network.
- Monitor status of inbound and outbound shipments, process all clearances along with our clearing agents.
- Work with Goods-in to manage flow of inbound and outbound orders.
- Notify Goods-in of pending inbound orders + provide necessary data (MRN numbers, batch details etc).
- Manage process for collections of small European packages (mainly to suppliers in Europe).
- Create shipping/export/import documentation for shipments.
- Set up new products on ERP system.
- Set up new suppliers on ERP system.
- Review invoices, packing slips and purchase orders entered onto the system and solve queries.
Requirements
- Has worked in a similar supply chain position
- Manage their time effectively.
- Meet strict deadlines.
- Be a team player and can work collaboratively to achieve goals.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations
- Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
- Has experience with import/export shipments.
- Experience with forecasting would be beneficial
