A well-known residential house builder is looking to appoint an intermediate Planner (residential planner) to their land and planning department. You will be working within an experienced team where you will support the growth new sites. Reporting to the Director, you will be expected to prepare initial planning budgets, produce and collate information for planning applications and submission, whilst monitoring the progress. You will liaise directly with the planning authority’s and external planning consultants in progressing applications and discharging conditions.

You will be involved in working on the identification of future land acquisition opportunities, devising planning strategies, drafting the statements required for the submission of planning applications and delivering immediate or long term planning projects on a variety of sites.

Snap shot of typical responsibilities:

• Manage all day-to-day promotion of current planning applications

• Submit planning applications

• Liaise directly with - and respond to the comments of - planning authorities and statutory

consultants to ensure the successful outcome of the planning application process

• Manage external consultants involved in the planning applications/promotions

• Prepare initial planning budgets and site planning appraisals

Attributes and experience needed to apply for the role:

• It will be essential to have previous experience working for a Local Authority, house builder

or private consultancy

• Experience of working in a similar role or looking to take a step up - Planner or

Assistant/Graduate Planner

• Experience in planning policy/DC and project management

• Have a good understanding of local and national planning policy

• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills

• Ability to work on their own initiative, with minimal supervision and prioritise own workload

• Knowledge of planning related/project management software will be an advantage

• RTPI member preferable but not essential

Please note, it will be essential to hold a full driving licence as this role will expected to travel to sites and meetings throughout Somerset – Cornwall
