Care Group 2- Responsive Care, Ward 27
12 Month fixed term contract
37.5 hours per week.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 occupational therapist to work within one of our acute wards as part of the MDT offering occupational therapy assessment and interventions to help support patients who are admitted to an acute medical ward and have on-going mental health difficulties. It will be expected that the post holder will introduce the expert occupational therapy role into a Gastroenterology ward, providing skilled support to patients presenting with an acute admission associated with mental health difficulties such as a people with eating disorders and drug or alcohol dependency This is post is a full time post and will join the ward team but maintain professional links with the wider AHP team.
Main duties of the job

- Making every contact count
- Rehabilitation needs identification and liaison with appropriate community services
- Representation at relevant clinical meetings
- Participate in patient/family choice meetings
- Provide specialist clinical advice to other healthcare professionals including those in the acute setting with limited mental health experience.
- Maintain a focus on achieving and demonstrating overall improvements in health care, prevention of inappropriate admissions and timely discharges from hospital.
- Coordination of team resources as dictated by annual leave, sickness, escalation etc.

This is a new post therefore we are looking someone who is able to lead this as a project as a dedicated health care professional who can be flexible in their approach and possess the aptitude to adapt quickly to new situations.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder will assess the needs of patients to enhance the acute care provided whilst developing techniques to manage on-going care post discharge. Examples of needs based therapy interventions, as well as non-clinical duties, will include any or all of the following:
