Are you interested in working clinically with serving members of the UK Armed Forces optimising the mental health of the UK military? Two exciting opportunities to work as part of the team at the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) at RAF Leeming have arisen.
We are actively recruiting for 2 Consultants with MRCPsych or FRCPsych with a certificate of Specialist Training in Adult Mental Health or equivalent who are included on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register. You will provide early and comprehensive interventions, with a strong occupational focus, to a population of mostly young and healthy adults, suffering from common mental health disorders. It is a population motivated to recover, with a well-resourced community mental health team to support you (Community Mental Health Nurses, Clinical Psychologists and Mental Health Social Workers). Serious and enduring mental health conditions are not a regular feature of this patient group. There is a high rate of recovery and full return to work, making for a rewarding environment.
As part of routine governance and learning processes, the successful candidates will be required, within their job plan, to provide peer-review of clinical care delivery following reporting of significant events. On occasion, this may require travel to another MOD Department of Community Mental Health.
There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
Evidence of Hepatitis B levels will be required for this role.

Qualifications

Full GMC registration with licence to practice HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist Listing on GMC Specialist Register (e.g. MRCPsych or FRCPsych) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) Current/recent clinical experiences working as a qualified clinical psychologist (Band 7) and ability to evidence appropriate knowledge

This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a B1 Consultant Psychiatrist in the Leeming Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH). Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due to a delay in filling a military post. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 31/7/2023. You should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) at MOD comes to an end, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy.
If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are found successful for an advertised Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) you should move into the post under a Temporary Transfer (for up to a maximum of 3 years). At the end of the posting you will return to your previous MoD Business area. If this posting is at a higher grade, your promotion will be temporary, and you will return to your substantive grade at the end of the Temporary Transfer. If a Temporary Transfer cannot be agreed between all parties then a transfer on an FTA contract is possible, read the FTA and Change of Work Location in the UK policy for further information.
If you are transferring to MoD from another government department (OGD) you should join the MoD on an inward loan. At the end of the loan you will return to your home (OGD) department. All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.
