An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust Training Team. We are looking for candidates with the potential to develop and progress within the training service, with the possibility of a substantive post.

You will have knowledge and experience of clinical and non-clinical systems: CareFlow EPR, OpenRiO, and Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new systems in conjunction with ongoing Trust projects.

As IT Trainer you will be flexible, approachable, and self-motivated. You should be able to work both in a team and autonomously to deadlines and in partnership with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders within a fast-paced environment.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly when required and travel to other Trust sites across Buckinghamshire.

Working in a team of Clinical Systems and Microsoft Office trainers, the post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of the products and services as defined in the standard project delivery framework in Buckinghamshire Health Care Trust. This encompasses planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of training.

Responsible for the delivery for all business-as-usual training for clinical, nursing and administrative staff who require access to Trust systems.

Provide technical support and services for software and equipment that is supported by the Trust’s IT department.

Facilitation and communication skills are a major component of the role. There is a need to convey complex information to all levels of staff.

Provide staff throughout the organisation with the necessary IT skills required to use a variety of computer systems and software efficiently and effectively. This will include, but is not limited to:
  • Clinical systems (CareFlow EPR and OpenRio)
  • Core IT skills such as the use of Microsoft Windows and the use of computers
  • NHS Mail
  • Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Use of the internet and intranet
  • Other business systems (including both internally and externally developed systems/applications).
This post supports a combination of agile/on site working which requires the ability to travel to any site within the organisation to provide training services.

Work as part of a team and work autonomously with the support of the training manager and team to deliver all aspects of training, from inception to completion on the correct use of BHT clinical and Microsoft systems.

Deliver training courses (including some externally accredited courses), 1:1 training events, workshops, coaching sessions and associated materials to a high standard and in line with departmental and Trust polices. These sessions must meet business needs and may require discussion and agreement with the relevant business areas on timing, location, facilities and materials to be provided.

Plan, organise and complete a broad range of activities to achieve training objectives. The process should take account of ongoing operational activity and include the consideration and adjustment of various approaches.

Assist with future development of policy and guidelines in the use of BHT clinical systems.

Post-holder must be flexible in approach and attitude to deal with unforeseen circumstances to cover for colleagues in the delivery of courses or to manage other related scenarios.

Be empathetic towards trainees where appropriate.

Liaise with a number of stakeholders including, BHT management and staff, and informatics teams.

Attend meetings where appropriate, carrying out any actions as required.

Establish and develop effective service networks inside and outside of the Trust to take forward the modernisation agenda.

Keep up to date with all relevant systems processes relating to the role. Liaising with colleagues to modify training programmes where necessary.

Ensure relevant professional qualifications are kept up to date.

Ensure all administrative requirements are completed accurately and in a timely fashion, such as travelling expenses and reports.

Provide staff throughout the organisation with the necessary IT skills required to use a variety of computer systems and software efficiently and effectively. This will include, but is not limited to:
  • Clinical systems (Medway and Rio)
  • Core IT skills such as the use of Microsoft Windows and the use of computers
  • NHS Mail
  • Microsoft Office products with a particular emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Use of the internet and intranet
  • Other business systems (including both internally and externally developed systems/applications).
To be accountable for all aspects of own work and to prioritise as agreed with the Training Manager to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with departmental and Trust demands.

To understand security responsibilities for yourself and the rest of the Trust.

To be aware of the Data Protection Act and its requirements.

To proactively champion the use of good security practice with users.

To report any security breaches to the IT Leadership Team.

To follow all departmental operating procedures and processes to ensure that all incidents and problems are dealt with efficiently and effectively.

Working with colleagues to ensure that all Trust policies, guidelines, protocols, procedures and instructions are adhered to at all times. Advice relating to IT policies should be provided to customers where appropriate and any breaches reported to the IT Leadership Team.

Working with colleagues to actively evaluate training courses to ensure that there is a process of continuous improvement and that the content and pre-requisites are appropriate for the level of training being provided.

To have highly developed communication skills enabling the effective interaction with staff across the organisation with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Seek awareness, and in some cases detailed knowledge outside own area of expertise as appropriate.

To plan, devise and carry out information sharing sessions with other colleagues to ensure that knowledge is shared throughout the department.
