On August 1st, 2023, City College Southampton, Eastleigh College and Fareham College have merged to form the South Hampshire College Group. This merger represents an exciting opportunity for the region’s students, offering defined pathways into employment, with employers benefiting from a more joined up approach that will create work ready employees aligned to the region’s growth agenda as well as a fresh start for all staff by embedding best practice, resources and cultures that will deliver an outstanding college. The merged group (who will all retain their campus names) will have a turnover of around £42 million and employ over 800 staff. Annually, the group would be responsible for the education and training of more than 3,600 students aged 16-19, over 1,200 apprentices and over 5,000 adults.

IT Technician

Competitive salary ranging up to £24,777 per annum.

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Duties:

  • Provide effective and responsive I.T. & Communications support for staff and learners College-wide.
  • To maintain, administer and supervise Microsoft and Google cloud services including Active Directory / Azure platforms.
  • To be responsible for installing hardware and software manually and using SCCM services on Windows 10 and Apple Mac OS platforms.
  • To diagnosis and implementation of repair procedures for I.T. facilities in accordance to internal policies and procedures.
  • To assist in the installation and maintenance of the college communications network infrastructure and in the administration of the network switches and WiFi configurations.

Skills/experience:

  • Highly motivated professional with a range IT and administration skills.
  • Experience of working within the education sector is desirable.
  • Good organisational skills with ability to organise own workload and able to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Communicate knowledge to others within a variety of styles and settings.
  • Excellent standard of computer literacy and have a high working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, google suites and IT equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include; communication, adaptability and flexibility.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Appropriate level 3 computing qualification or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards relevant qualifications for the post as required.
