Apprenticeship summary:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring IT Technician Apprentice to join Solent Laptops! If you are looking to progress in the IT industry and hardware repair, then this is the right job for you. The successful applicant will undertake a L3 Information Communication Technician: Technical Support apprenticeship and you will have a great progression opportunity.

You will be responsible for working with and aiding our current IT Technicians in their everyday work, building knowledge of our business and the way we do things, leading towards taking on regular day to day workloads and contributing to our daily task quota.

Duties

  • Organising Stock / Goods In
  • Troubleshooting, Software Installation and repair of mainly laptops, sometimes desktops and tablets
  • Ensuring the correct memory configuration & Hard Drive is installed
  • Running a full PC Check using a PC Installing & Testing Software
  • Quality check of all goods before dispatch
  • Unpackaging & Repackaging of items for dispatch
  • Remote IT Support to company’s clients

Solent Laptops Limited (Trading As Grab A Laptop) is a major re-seller of well-known branded Laptop computer products in the consumer electronics industry. Our Head office is based in Farlington Portsmouth, where we refurbish, prepare and dispatch over 200 items daily.

Skills

  • You should be technology-minded and have interest in the IT
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Enthusiastic and willingness to learn
  • You will be a team player who is able to work using own initiative
Personal qualities
  • Any previous IT knowledge / experience will be highly beneficial
Qualifications required
  • 2 GCSE’s at grade C or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.

Future prospects

There is opportunity for a full time role once the apprenticeship has been completed.

Training to be provided

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend one of PETA training centres for off-the-job training. The majority of training will be completed with your employer at your place of work. You will be completing the Information Communication Technician – Support Technician apprenticeship.
