Role Summary:


We are an electrical engineering consultancy firm with global operations, looking for an IT Systems Engineer to join our global IT team and be based in Stafford, United Kingdom. Our IT team provides project and operations IT systems support across the PSC group with operations across a number of different countries. This role will be reporting to and working closely with the Global IT Manager. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years IT support and projects experience, with a proven ability to independently complete work as well as troubleshoot and solve problems. This role will offer a diverse range of work, and provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to hone and grow their technical skills, while also getting an in-depth understanding of the ins and outs of a wide range of technology products.


The role can also be based in Newcastle or Warwick.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • System development and administration of Office 365 Technologies with expertise in SharePoint.
  • Systems support, including servers, desktops, virtualization, mobile devices, network and peripheral hardware through proactive monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and escalation when appropriate.
  • End user support, tackling a wide range of user requests and problems.
  • Project engineering, supporting upgrades and new technology introductions.
  • Support of complex software packages.
  • Coordinates execution of new/upgraded information systems via well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability.
  • This role is in a small internationally distributed team. Role will include some out of hours support (shared with other IT staff).
  • Works as part of team to provide input and draft IT procedures and equipment for maximum efficiency and cost containment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location.

Minimum Expertise:


  • 10+ years of IT support experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 technologies with expertise in SharePoint, including desktop, server and cloud systems.
  • IT business analyst experience including partnering with business units to create technical solutions that support company initiatives and address business issues.
  • Experience or a willingness to develop expertise in server technologies such as Windows Server and VMware or Hyper-V Virtualization.
  • Proficient in installation, troubleshooting, and configuration of laptop and desktop hardware, OS, software, and peripherals.
  • Experience creating and facilitating technical solutions and analyzing system requirements to meet business requirements
  • Strong understanding of systems security practices with the ability to recommend and implement best practices
  • Able to perform and administer systems including data backups and archives.
  • An enthusiasm to tackle any technology related issue, even those which are outside of current expertise.
  • Certification in one or more of the above areas will be viewed favorably (Microsoft, Cisco, security, etc.).

Preferred Expertise:


  • Must be a team player and able to interact closely on a day-to-day basis with all parties tasked with keeping systems running.
  • Strong desire to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Effective at problem solving.
  • Excellence in customer service.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of maintaining IT infrastructure that supports real-time critical business systems.
  • Experience with SharePoint PowerAutomate and PowerApps.
  • Effectively communicates with employees through timely, accurate, service-oriented assistance.

Specific Requirements:


  • Prepared to routinely schedule a time shifted day/s to enable effective collaboration with other global IT resources. This enables effective collaboration with peer IT engineers in other time zones.
