Barrhead Travel is looking for an experienced 2nd Line Engineer to join our IT department based in Glasgow City Centre. You will report to the Head of IT and be responsible for the day to day IT support, as well as being involved in various infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to further develop their career path with guidance and mentoring from our Head of IT and 3rd Line Engineer.

The business is undergoing an exciting phase of infrastructure transformation, and this is your chance to participate in these projects, working with enterprise-class technologies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on IT support to 600 users across the UK
  • User administration in Active Directory, Office 365 and 3rd party applications
  • Deploy new hardware using WDS and MDT and install software using remote desktop tools
  • Participate in infrastructure improvement projects
  • Work as a team and communicate regularly with other IT staff
  • Create and maintain documentation for key support tasks and processes
  • Travel to remote sites to carry out support or project work as required

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of HP and Dell client computing hardware
  • Demonstrable experience of administering Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, Active Directory, and the Microsoft 365 product stack
  • Knowledge of cabled and wireless networking technologies and TCP/IP
  • Experience of supporting users in a multi-site environment across a WAN and client VPNs
  • Awareness of IP telephony and experience supporting staff using handsets and softphones
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of working with a web-based helpdesk system
  • A team player with outstanding communication skills
  • An organised self-starter with a proactive mindset and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to travel at short notice and perform well under pressure
