Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within IT Technical Operations for a full-time Senior Technical Analyst (Systems). We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to help support and maintain our systems across Somerset and South West England.

Main duties of the job
  • Supporting legacy standalone domains across the GP estate
  • Supporting the hosted domain infrastructure across the Corporate and GP patches
  • Working remotely, as well as attending sites when required to resolve issues
  • BAU support for GP and Corporate users in the South West and other SCW customer regions
  • Involvement in project work, such as large-scale migrations from legacy domains into SCW’s hosted infrastructure
  • Investigating connectivity issues at customer sites, resolving, or escalating to Network team colleagues when required

About Us

The successful candidate will be working with existing Systems colleagues in the South West region, with regular contact with the wider Tech Ops team across the South of England.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the provision of an efficient, effective, high quality, professional IT Operations capability that continues to meet all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.
  • Effectively operate SCW CSU DDaT Systems Infrastructure components
  • Maintain and adapt SCW CSU specific server, storage, client and packaging standards, including operational and technical documentation, compliance with organisational and technical standards, processes and procedures
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of Servers and associated services in terms of their contribution to business performance and their sustainability

The successful candidate will need to have access to their own transport or be able access other modes of transport and can ensure they can committed to attending customer sites reliably and regularly.

Furthermore, as part of this role there will be a requirement to undertake light manual handling duties, where necessary and practicable, to restore operational service to the customers expectation.   • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area

Knowledge & Experience

Essential
  • Operation of Windows Server 2012, 2016 and 2019
  • Clear understanding of infrastructure backup operations
  • Ability to run and customise tasks that have been automated using Command files, PowerShell and VB Script.
  • Ability to configure security with Windows Active Directory.
  • Ability to implement Group Policies and other Active Directory features
  • The installation and configuration of Windows server and associated services
  • The installation and configuration of applications based on Windows Server.
  • Operation of Windows Server storage in SAN and DAS environments.
  • Ability to operate and report on server patch management using relevant tools
  • Operation of Hyper Visor such as VMWare and Hyper-V
  • Operation and creation of virtual machines

Desirable
  • Experience and knowledge of operating within a Data Centre environment
  • Experience in managing systems using scripting tools such as PowerShell and VB Script.
