About the role

Reporting to theManager - Service Experience, working in a collaborative and inclusive team within the Rio Tinto IS&T Operations team.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated information technology manager who will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that computing systems and equipment are operating effectively and efficiently primarily at our London Office.

To be successful in this position you will demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the industry’s best practices and evidence of a professional track record of effective technical and people management skills, information analysis, and a thorough understanding of Enterprise computer hardware and software systems.

Information Technology Manager Responsibilities:

  • Managing local IT staff, communicating job expectations and monitoring performance
  • Managing the partner ecosphere to ensure the end user experience and system performance for London office and satellite European offices
  • ensuring IT cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensuring support for all executive events
  • Strong stakeholder management with London office members and senior leadership
  • Monitoring daily operations, including hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Ensuring full functionality of systems and enhanced end-user experience is delivered.
  • Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Selecting evaluating and purchasing new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and modifying information systems so that they operate effectively.
  • Generating performance reports.
  • Assuring all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Evaluating technology risks to implement disaster recovery plans and backup procedures.
  • Remaining up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.

Information Technology Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation.
  • Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, Audio Visual Systems, and IT security.
  • In depth proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite, including server, O365, and business functionality of Windows and Mobile applications including their use.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Ability to work across multiple MS technologies and think “Outside the Box”, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Rio Tinto Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) based at the London St James St office to enable better alignment with customer priorities, end-to-end accountability, and flexibility to priorities critical work. The function provides solutions that are aligned with current and future business requirements through the development and ongoing delivery of IT strategy and solution roadmaps. Through appropriate governance, consultative processes, and the use of industry best practices, IS&T also ensures that emerging technologies and innovative ideas are constantly evaluated, considered, and adopted, to provide easy-to-use, best-in-class solutions and services.
