IT Consultant Engineer: Bristol Working hours: Full-time Monday - Friday Job type: Permanent Package: Competitive Salary Company Provided Car Overtime Pension Permanent Health and Death in Service Cover Based in Yate, on the outskirts of Bristol, Orchard Computer Services have been providing Network Solutions since 1990. We install and support IT Security Products, Hardware, Operating Systems and Key Applications. Secure data centres in Newbury and Cardiff provide Server Hosting and, key to our Disaster Recovery Assistance, Offsite Backups. We support organisations throughout the UK from a wide variety of industries and charities. We partner with many of the leading IT manufacturers including Microsoft, Dell and HP. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a well-established organisation going through continued growth and expansion. As an Orchard Consultant Engineer, you will work in partnership with our customers, advising them how to use IT to meet their objectives or overcome problems. You will work to improve and maintain the structure, security and efficiency of the IT systems for a wide variety of businesses and charities. This “hands on” role will include the implementation of projects as well as the initial consultancy and planning. Projects such as Server replacement, Cloud Solutions, Security Products and Data Centre based Hosting & Backups. Also assisting customers to obtain compliance with Cyber Essentials and Local Authority requirements etc. You may be called upon to provide guidance and technical expertise during other processes as well, such as product training for customers or colleagues. Responsibilities As a Consultant Engineer, you will need to Manage Projects and this will include travelling to customer sites throughout the UK meeting with customers to determine their requirements, understand their work practices and the nature of their business work with them to define the scope of the project present the recommended solutions in written or oral reports define software, hardware and network requirements plan timescales and the resources needed develop the agreed solutions and implement the new systems liaise with staff at all levels of the customers organisation prepare detailed documentation and present progress reports to customers provide detailed information and diagrams etc. for colleagues to provide ongoing support organise training for customers or colleagues Other tasks will include acting as the prime contact for new customers as they integrate to Orchard assisting customers to obtain compliance with Cyber Essentials and Local Authority requirements etc. recommending and evaluating new products and solutions assisting with the technical development of the Orchard field and helpdesk support teams The role requires someone with initiative and A clean and full driving licence Extensive technical knowledge- to include all things Microsoft, IT Security Solutions, Servers, Firewalls and Routers Proven customer liaison experience The ability to work well on your own or in a team Good time management The ability to take responsibility for ensuring projects are completed quickly and efficiently UK based applications ONLY Agency applications will not be accepted
