Service Care Solutions are looking for a PIP2 accredited Investigator to work within the Lancashire Constabulary on a 4-month contract.
Location: Preston
Job role/responsibility:
To investigate historical allegations of child abuse, involving victims who have reported abuse by persons in positions of public prominence, or who have been abused within institutions.
- To conduct serious and complex investigations, plan and manage own workload, and retain OIC responsibility.
- To secure, preserve and gather evidence to support law enforcement objectives.
- To undertake tasks accordingly with accredited powers.
- To plan, prepare and be involved in the execution of operations.
- To work in partnership with other departments and agencies to safeguard and protect those at risk of abuse.
- To interview witnesses and take statements as part of investigations in line with Achieving Best Evidence Guidelines.
- To provide support to victims and witnesses and assess their need for further support throughout the criminal justice process.
- To interview people suspected of committing offences and conduct process procedures.
- To use internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.
- To complete comprehensive investigation reports and case files.
- To present evidence to CPS and at court, to prosecute offenders through the criminal justice system.
- To provide flexibility to account for exigencies of duty
- To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities, and grading of the post.
Experience/Qualifications:
- PIP level 2 trained and accredited
- Experience of successfully investigating serious and complex crimes.
- Experience of safeguarding vulnerable members of the community and those at risk of abuse.
- Experience and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System relating to the PACE Act.
- Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions, and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them.
- Experience of maintaining & interrogating computerised systems and manual filing systems.
- Experience of communicating at all levels with a wide range of audiences.
- Experience of working effectively and efficiently as part of a team and working with minimal supervision.
- Experience of dealing with members of the public and working in partnership with other departments and agencies.
- Experience of dealing with difficult situations or conflict.
- Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality using tact and diplomacy where appropriate.
