Based in London, you’ll be a pivotal part of a dynamic team focused on growing sales for Pan Macmillan, Macmillan US and third-party publishers within diverse markets.

Reporting to the Senior International Sales Manager, the International Sales Executive is a key role in the Open Markets team. In this role, you will take charge of delivering sales budgets, nurturing customer relationships, and championing our authors and illustrators.

The ideal candidate will bring a balance of excellent administrative skills, a knack for effective communication and the ability to juggle a variety of tasks. Prior sales experience, preferably in publishing, will be beneficial.

Key tasks of the role include:

  • Managing all customer relationships and maximising sales in specific territories: Eastern Europe, Middle East (excluding Israel, Turkey and UAE), Africa (excluding SA), Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium and Luxembourg
  • Delivering sales budgets for the territory
  • Feeding back on market trends, marketing strategies, popular genres etc. to inform current and future acquisition plans
  • Planning sales visits and submitting travel plans. The role requires approximately 10 weeks of overseas travel per year.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Exceptionally strong administrative and organisational skills
  • First-class communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to manage a wide variety of tasks simultaneously
  • A high capacity to prioritise workload under pressure from multiple sources.

We’d love it if you had:


  • Sales experience (preferably in International Sales) within publishing is desirable but not essential
  • A detailed knowledge of some or all of the sales territory.

Job Description

This is a full time, permanent role, and will be based in our offices in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.

Salary starting from: £28,000 onwards
