About the job

Summary

About Targeted Intercept

Targeted Intercept (TI) provides intelligence against all NCA threat areas, which leads to significant operational results. It also helps build strategic and thematic intelligence which enhances NCA knowledge and understanding of serious and organised crime. Some of TI’s notable achievements over the last few years have been:

  • Supporting a number of operations targeting upstream Class A drugs traffickers. TI intelligence led directly to the seizure of over 4.5 tonnes of Class A drugs;
  • Targeting a number of Organised Crime Groups involved in firearms, from which approximately 250 firearms in the UK were seized;
  • Identifying numerous planned Organised Immigration Crime ventures which ensured that the NCA could disrupt this activity and safeguard victims of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking;
  • Providing operational opportunities to seize the proceeds of crime, totaling in excess of £55million.

What you can expect from joining the team

  • 10 weeks of initial training. This is a combination of classroom learning, exercises and on-the-job mentoring. On completion you will be signed-off as a trained interceptor and soon allocated your own investigations.
  • A bespoke professionalization pathway that underpins officer development as a priority.
  • Working across every threat area will give you the opportunity to develop expertise in everything from Class A drugs importations, to firearms supply and international corruption.
  • You will be driving the TI collection strategy for your operations and directly influencing surveillance deployments and other operational decisions.
  • You will be working on live operations, being the first to know what your criminal targets are doing. This will often mean identifying Threats to Life and being at the forefront of mitigating risk and directly protecting lives.
  • You will have a role in developing new technological methods of intelligence collection.
  • You will gain an unfiltered insight into how criminals think, act and feel.
  • G5 TI posts are spot-rate applicable and currently receive an additional special duties bonus.

Interceptors are mission-focused and flexible to meet the needs of their operations. Criminals are unpredictable, and they rarely work 9-5. To cover this, the team runs a shift rota and has officers in the office 365 days per year.

This is a designated post that is open to UK Nationals only. Please see candidate information pack for further information.
