The Intelligence Analyst is responsible for providing data analysis within the Intelligence Management Unit through the production of key intelligence products as detailed within the SPS Intelligence Model. These products will also support the development of operational strategies to inform the Tactical Tasking and Coordination Group decision making process to address operational threats to the establishment.

NOTESecurity Clearance is required to support and enhance the on-going developments within the SPS intelligence community including serious and organised crime and terrorist activity liaison. Therefore job holder will be expected to complete and pass the Defence Vetting Agency System Security Clearance process. Clearance will be revived every 10 years.

Responsibilities
Collate, produce and distribute analytical products identifying threats to the establishment as detailed within the SPS Intelligence Model.
Support Tactical Tasking Co-ordination Group decision making through the provision of effective analysis.
Liaise and interface with Law Enforcement Agencies.
Provide statistical data and analysis as required providing data to SPS Senior Management within identified timescales.
Support the Intelligence Manager in developing intelligence reporting within the establishment through the identification of specific intelligence gaps.
Undertake any other duties consistent the job as directed by the IMU Manager.

Qualifications Requirements
A minimum of 5 Standard Grades, including English and Mathematics/Arithmetic (at Grade 3 or above) or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience. ESSENTIAL.
Be prepared to work towards and achieve within a prescribed time scale the recognised SQA qualification: PDA - Intelligence Analysis. ESSENTIAL.
Experience Requirements
Experience of working in an Intelligence or confidential environment. DESIRABLE
Experience in analysing complex data sets with a view to producing and communicating management reports. ESSENTIAL
IT literate; competent and experienced in Microsoft Office packages. ESSENTIAL
Knowledge Skills Requirements

Awareness of:

  • The SPS/National Intelligence Models and their associated intelligence products;
  • Regulatory Investigative Powers (Scotland) Act 2000 (RIP(S)A);
  • SPS Intelligence Management Framework.DESIRABLE
Demonstrable knowledge of the prison environment and the operating context in which intelligence is derived and analysed. DESIRABLE
Demonstrable ability of managing several work streams at one time. ESSENTIAL
Effective decision making skills with the ability to analyse, interpret, compare and report on a range of information. Essential
