Introduction

The Technical Insurance Manager is responsible for the teams of Insurance technicians and the work allocation including monitoring of SLA’s and resource allocation. They are critical part of the business providing both technical and non-technical support to the high performing teams, who provide excellent service all stakeholders.

The Technical Insurance Manager will have an allocation of technical work themselves but will also takes ownership and responsibility for the day-to-day development and management of the relationship with key divisional stakeholders, reporting performance data and results to them as required and deals with ad hoc issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

· Monitor and manage team workflow/allocation of tasks.

· Set team objectives and assign ad hoc tasks as necessary to meet needs of customers

· Manage available resources to ensure compliance with agreed SLAs within the business and provide performance data and analysis as required.

· Manage own technical workload and respond to new business in an agile manner

· Use tools and data to continuously review and improve processes and services

· Maintain regular communication and a positive relationship with divisional stakeholders

· Take ownership and accountability for the overall team performance.

· Ensure that team members are engaged and encouraged in a high performing environment, including maintaining a regular in office presence as required.

· Ensure that talent and performance is recognised, rewarded and developed.

· Co-ordinate with the wider management team to ensure effective deployment and availability of resources throughout CST

· Responsible for escalating risks and issues (both technical & HR) to ensure that appropriate line management is aware and able to assist in protecting AGR from risk and E&O’s

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

· Strong Technical Skills (ability to resolve 80% of all technical queries in team)

· Strong communication skills (including written and verbal) with both internal and external customers

· Able to build credibility and respect among stakeholders

· Excellent administrative and time management skills

· Resilient and flexible, open to change and different ways of working

· Understanding of wider impact of actions and change beyond own team

· Able to prioritise own workload effectively, delegating where appropriate

· Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

· Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with Word and PowerPoint preferable

· Ability to coach and develop team members for high performance

· Ability to deal with underperformance and performance management issues

· Ability to deal with HR related issues in a considered and thorough way

· Aptitude for understanding, drawing conclusions and making recommendations from data

· Good knowledge of Insurance principles, with technical knowledge of the specific work area desirable

· CII qualification desirable
