Role Overview:
As an Installations & Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in their team, working both independently and collaboratively on various sites across Wiltshire and the UK. Your primary responsibility will be to install and maintain a wide range of electrical systems, including power quality energy-saving equipment, motor optimization, lighting, power, energy monitoring equipment, cooling systems, and renewable energy equipment such as Solar PV and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, modify, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Demonstrate confidence and proficiency in working on single and three-phase installations.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to identify the cause of breakdowns and rectify issues.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Maintain a current electrician’s JIB or ECS Gold card or equivalent.
- Specify and install voltage optimization, power factor correction, and active harmonic filter systems.
- Install and commission VSD/VFD Motor Optimization equipment.
- Carry out solar PV installation and commissioning.
- Provide service and maintenance for the equipment we install.
- Demonstrate M&E experience and proficiency in installing and commissioning controls.
- Stay updated with training and qualifications, ensuring compliance with current electrical regulations.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications, local legislation, and BS7671 regulations.
- Manage and train less qualified staff to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Effectively manage an installation team to deliver projects within agreed schedules.
Personal Specification:
Essential:
- Hold qualifications including 18th Edition BS7671, Level 3 Electrotechnical Technology (2330 with AM2), and Level 3 Inspecting & Testing (BS2391 or BS2394/5).
- Possess an ECS Gold Card.
- Hold a full driving license with no more than six points.
Desirable:
Additional qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness, and Solar PV installation and commissioning experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial and industrial three-phase installations and fault finding.
- Strong experience with controls and installation and commissioning of VSD/VFD systems.
- Accountable for actions and work, demonstrating reliability and responsibility.
- Experience in the energy reduction environment, working on Building Management Systems (BMS), and solar PV installation and commissioning is highly advantageous.

Demonstrates an interest in business issues and activities, both internally and externally.
Benefits:
- Salary: £40-45k
- Annual Company Bonus: £4k
