Telent Installation & Provisioning Engineer
Midlands and Northwest

We are looking for fibre professionals to join our NRTS programme working on upgrading the UK motorway network into smart roads. You’ll play a critical part in enabling exciting infrastructure to be installed roadside in the Midlands and the Northwest.


What you’ll be doing:
  • You’ll be reporting in the Regional I&P Manager who will direct you in carrying out all aspects of installation, commissioning, testing and handover into operational use of relevant equipment.
  • You’ll be responsible for the preparation / testing and termination of a variety of cables used under the project (i.e. 10 pair copper/24, 96 core fibre) into various above and below ground joints as instructed by the line manager.
  • You’ll complete all relevant documentation for sign off.
  • You’ll ensure vehicles, tools, spares, clothing and equipment are maintained in a usable and ready condition at all times.
  • You’ll assist in managing third party subcontractors engaged in work activities

What do I need to apply?
  • Previous telecommunications experience
  • Previous experience of working with optical fibre
  • Knowledge of IT packages including Microsoft programs (Word/Outlook)
  • City & Guilds certificates in electrical/electronic engineering
  • A vehicle is provided for this role so a valid driving license is required
  • Good communication skills
  • Product training will be provided so an appetite for learning and development is key

Other information and benefits:
  • The role can be a mixture of both day and night shift working due to the nature of works we carry out. Overtime and additional T&Cs are in place for any nightshift work that is carried out.
  • There may be times where you will need to stay away during the week if it’s not practical for you to travel home after shift.
  • We work in all weathers so you will need to be comfortable with working roadside in adverse conditions.
