Our Innovation team

Our innovation team was founded in January 2018 and has a global remit, with a primary focus on improving or enhancing the way our lawyers deliver services to clients, and to identify and implement new services that complement our core revenue generating activities.

Purpose of the role

To deliver projects to enhance the way our lawyers deliver services to our clients. These projects can be process, technology, or people related.
The team’s success is measured through the impact of the outputs from these projects. This is a role focused on delivering business change. Stakeholder and change management experience are as important as technical skills.
The role will take sole responsibility for the delivery of small to medium sized projects, and will support the delivery of larger more complex projects.
Main Responsibilities:
Delivery of projects

The primary focus of this role will be on successful project delivery. The types of projects include:
  • Identifying opportunities to deploy paralegal resource to support the delivery of legal services, identifying the most effective way to achieve this change, and executing it.
  • Taking a business need, and identifying the best way to meet that need, including assessing possible technology solutions, designing and executing pilots, creating business cases, designing implementation and roll-out plans and executing them
  • Leading technology implementation projects
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Supporting the roll-out of existing technology to increase the take-up and value from technology investments
  • Supporting and advising lawyers on the deployment of process and technology for large and complex transactions

Broader contribution to cultural change

Contributing to broader innovation work including:
  • Training and coaching our lawyers
  • Supporting our innovation network
  • Supporting internal and external communications
  • Supporting business development related activities

Experience required

Essential
  • An interest in innovation and a passion for driving change
  • Experience of designing processes and/or services based on customer needs
  • Recent experience of achieving behaviour change through project delivery and proven experience of delivering change related projects
  • Experience of implementing new SaaS technologies
  • Recent experience of hands on delivery of process improvement work in a service environment
  • Familiarity of working on technology related projects
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment
  • Experience of managing project teams

Preferred

  • An understanding of the changing legal services environment and the key drivers behind those changes
  • Experience of working in a partnership organisation structure
  • Experience of working with LegalTech tools such as HighQ, Document Automation, AI contract review software and legal workflow tools.
  • Project management certification (Prince 2, PMI or similar)
  • Process improvement or design thinking certification
