Job content

This is an exciting opportunity to join our small but growing team. We are seeking a creative-minded business professional with 5+ years of relevant work experience. This experience is not sector specific but a proven track record of working with people and teams to design, improve, innovate services and experiences is essential. This role will be focused on the workforce within the Health & Wellbeing and Sport & Physical Activity sectors; however, a wider breadth of experience and expertise is welcomed.

Working alongside one of our Directors, you will have hands-on responsibility for the co-design and co-delivery of a super-interesting selection of improvement and transformation projects, all with challenging timescales and demands for quality in delivery and outcomes. This will involve collaborating with people across Sport and Physical Activity, to help teams use innovation, service design and organisational development to address a range of challenges: increasing participation, addressing sporting inequalities, creating sustainable change, developing and implementing new or improved customer experiences, and developing the workforce across the sector.

Essential requirements

  • A big smile, loads of energy, happy to meet and work with new people – virtually and physically
  • 5+ years’ experience working in at least one of these areas - proposition development, service and/or customer experience, change management or organisational development
  • Experience of working in teams to develop and deliver new visions / ideas / innovations / new services / new service experiences / transformation and change
  • Ability to quickly build strong collaborative relationships and for the longer term
  • An inquisitive, creative, tenacious learning attitude, but with a desire to see things through and to deliver the right results
  • Ability to multi-task on a variety of different projects, with different demands
  • Strong communication skills i.e. the ability to actively listen, understand, interpret and communicate with people from the front line to the Board room
  • An interest in the application of new tools, thinking or new technologies to business improvement
  • Ability to learn on-the-job and apply new learning into every aspect of the role
  • Ability to develop case studies, develop practices and capture feedback is essential

The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills, but not necessarily be a dedicated programme or project manager by background.

Whilst we are based in Leamington Spa, we are open to applicants from other parts of the country with a degree of flexible remote working.

About us:

The Activation Project is a new, funded not-for-profit organisation, which started in 2020. We have a unique innovation, development and transformation role within Health & Wellbeing and Sport & Physical Activity sectors, with a clear remit and philosophy:

  • We work in a genuine spirit of co-creation that helps our partners to succeed…
  • We see their world through different eyes; their customers, their staff, their partners…
  • We stimulate funders, partners and collaborators to think differently and creatively about the challenges they are addressing...
  • We are in it for the long haul – we are passionate about implementation and delivery...
  • We are flexible in how we work – from collaboration to coaching...
  • We transfer capability to create independence not dependence...

A proven successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our sister and founding company, Impact Innovation, on commercial programmes in a variety of sectors.

This is an opportunity to become a valued member of a small, professional and growing company with big ambitions and in an environment where practical results are fundamental, but where we also enjoy learning, developing and working together.

This is initially a 12 month role, with a strong possibility to become a long-term funded position.

Salary guide of £35 – 45K plus benefits, dependent upon expertise and experience.
