At Care South we are recruiting for an experienced Information Governance & Data Protection Manager
Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 per annum + benefits

This is a full time permanent position and will be based on our Head Office in Poole.

Reporting to the Chief Executive/Board of Directors - the key responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Working with our solicitors to ensure that the Statutory Books and Registers for Care South and its subsidiaries (the Care South Group) are properly maintained and all reports, accounts and returns are filed on time in accordance with the Companies Act and Charities Act.
  • Advising the Board on governance and company secretarial matters
  • Attending to legal matters as directed by the Chief Executive and / or Board of Directors.
  • Overseeing matters in relation to the Charity Commission and dealing with regulatory alerts.
  • Managing the declarations of Interests Register.
  • Management of insurance claims in liaison with the Chief Executive and Finance Director & Deputy Chief Executive.
As the Data Protection Officer you will lead on all aspects of data protection, to include:
  • inform and advise on compliance with the UK GDPR and other data protection laws;
  • monitor the Company’s compliance with the UK GDPR and other data protection laws, including managing internal data protection activities; raising awareness of data protection issues, training staff and conducting internal audits;
  • create, advise on, and to monitor data protection impact assessments (DPIAs);
  • first point of contact for the Information commissioner’s Office (ICO) and for individuals whose data is processed
  • maintain records of data processing operations;
  • liaise with other organisations that process data on our behalf;
  • create/update detailed guidelines on data protection policies;
  • monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company (including audits);
  • investigate/offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches;
  • offer consultation on how to deal with subject access requests
  • follow up with changes in law and issue recommendation to ensure compliance.

Person Specification / Key Requirements
  • Professional data protection & privacy qualification or exceptional knowledge and experience of GDPR & Data Protection Regulations 2018
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and best practice.
  • Understanding of IT and Cyber Security requirements.
  • Tactful and diplomatic, confidential
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and written) and problem solving skills
  • Ability to establish successful, collaborative working relationships and providing pragmatic solutions
  • Proactive and focused on delivery
  • Has pace and able to deal with volume and work under pressure
