Industry 4.0 Solutions Architect

Location: Chesterfield

An Industry 4.0 Solutions Architect is required to be the authority in defining, developing, implementing and commissioning Industry 4.0 solutions.

The Solutions Architect must be able to work autonomously and use initiative to produce innovative technical solutions, and maintain a close working relationship with the wider Automation and Digital & Innovation teams. They must be pro-active in working with the Business Development team to identify and create solution offerings for our clients (including pricing, scoping (functional and technical), resource planning and development of project programmes at pre-sales stage). The Solutions Architect must be passionate about working with clients to help build tailored Industry 4.0 solutions around their needs, factoring in both business and technical benefits.

Role
  • Work with the Head of Automation to formulate technology plans for Digitalisation (Internal and External)
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of new technologies in a fast moving technology landscape. This will include the evaluation of products on the market and prototyping these new technologies where appropriate
  • Responsible for continued development and ownership of the Connected Devices (IIOT) work stream
  • Responsible for the development of Industry 4.0 use cases, to promote the benefits of Industry 4.0 solutions to prospective clients
  • Responsible for working with clients to identify requirements and develop tailored Industry 4.0 solutions, which meet those requirements.
  • Actively participate in the Bilfinger Energy Transformation working group
  • Responsible for the Automation scope of Digital Twin opportunities (working with other Bilfinger departments)
  • Manage Internal Digitalisation projects (Continuous Improvements including enhancements and efficiency savings).
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the D&I team to carry out Digital Maturity Assessments
  • Work alongside the Business Development team in to grow of Industry 4.0 and Automation projects across existing and new clients and industries
  • Ensure close working relationship and knowledge share with wider Automation and D&I teams
  • Ensure knowledge share with Bilfinger group in Europe

Functions
  • The Solutions Architect is expected to undertake the following:
  • Scope, cost and plan Digitalisation projects in line with technology plans for Digitalisation (Internal and External)
  • Act as a primary client interface and point of contact for automation and digitalisation
  • Project Management activities for internal and external digitalisation including Risk Management, change control, resource planning, procurement etc.
  • Produce and review documentation (requirement specifications, design documents, test documents, training materials etc.).
  • Develop and deliver training for internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce marketing material and sales collateral for Industry 4.0 and digital solutions
  • Develop work-face documentation (including Risk assessments, method statements, site test documentation)
  • Provide Health and Safety leadership by example
  • Where required undertake site activities including data capture/surveys and installation
  • Ensure adherence to company quality processes and procedures for all Industry 4.0 and Internal Digitalisation projects
  • Update Quality Management System as required based on Industry 4.0 and internal Digitalisation projects
  • Develop and manage modular code and standardisation where appropriate
  • Capture and share lessons learned and best practice
  • Working with a geographically spread team and client base
  • Provide entire project lifecycle support including maintenance and modifications

Experience

Previous experience of integrated control system solutions (PLC, SCADA, DCS, IIOT, MES etc).

The Following Experience Is Essential
  • Hands on experience of Cloud and Industry 4.0 solutions
  • Hands on experience of OPC UA and MQTT
  • Awareness of Cyber Security (IEC 62443)
  • Experience of working within different industries
  • Broad multi-vendor OT technical knowledge (for example Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, Rockwell, Honeywell)
  • Solid IT knowledge and experience
  • A thorough practical appreciation of Control panels, electrical installation and Instrumentation solutions.
  • Detailed experience of the full project life cycle from system specification through design, development, testing, and commissioning to asset maintenance & management
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels including executives and senior management

Experience of some or all of the following is desirable:
  • Knowledge of Industry standards such as ISA95 (IEC62264), IEC62443, IEC61511, IEC61508, IEC61131, IEC61499
  • Knowledge of Cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Knowledge of Digital Twin technologies and implementation
  • Industrial Protocol Knowledge (EtherNet/IP, DNP3, Modbus, Profinet etc)
  • Industrial Network design, implementation and configuration
  • Hands on experience of energy monitoring solutions and measuring OEE in practice
  • Experience working with XML, PowerApps, .net, Visual Basic, C#, SQL, Node-Red (or similar)
  • Experience of IT/OT convergence
  • Database implementation
  • Awareness of AI and Data analytics

Qualifications
  • A Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or relevant discipline
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration
