The role of the Indirect Tax Compliance Technician is to support the Indirect Tax team in providing controlled and tightly supervised indirect tax compliance and advisory services to Chubb and affiliated companies across the EMEA and wider region.

The primary focus of the role is on continual day to day improvement of the end-to-end tax compliance obligations around VAT, Insurance Premium Tax (IPT), parafiscal taxes and associated SAF-T files.

This is likely to lead to the provision of technical guidance from time to time as well as tax return review work.

The role involves indirect tax accounting, particularly: managing balance sheet reconciliations and assisting with Plan/Forecast. There will be a secondary focus supporting the team with tax advisory and project services to other areas of the business across Chubb.

Regular travel to London may be required with occasion travel to other regions, COVID permitting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing operational improvements for indirect tax returns and reduce manual intervention.

“Data champion” (systems, data flows, automation).

Assisting with indirect tax accounting (VAT, IPT, parafiscal) & develop towards automating this. This will include continual review and updating, with processes “fit for purpose”.

Assist with the management of the day-to-day VAT compliance processes to meet Chubb’s statutory compliance obligations.

Respond to indirect tax queries as and when they arise – both from the business and from the Finance Team.

Help and support with the preparation of indirect tax audits and accounting/reconciliation projects as well as wider projects when required.

Assisting more senior tax team members relating to the provision of adhoc advisory services and projects as necessary.

Journal preparation where required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Advanced Excel skills are a priority (for example: macros/VBA coding, SQL).

Qualified or part-qualified with either professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ICAS and/ or CTA) and have experience either in accounting or tax (indirect tax would be advantageous).

A keen interest in the structure and functioning of systems/automation with a view towards current & future tax requirements particularly around increased data demands.

IPT/Insurance background is desirable

Ability to work on own initiative with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Can work to demanding reporting timetables and deadlines in a pressurised environment.

Preferably finance accounting literate, must have excellent experience using Excel to its fullest capacity, handling big data and automation in an applied way.
