Scope of the internship:

As the Illumina AcceleratorIntern you will be using your life science skills to become involved with various projects within Illumina Accelerator and support startups on an ad-hoc basis.

Tasks:

  • The primary responsibility of this role is of a laboratory technician, who can support the technical aspects of our sequencing services helping startups.Experience with next generation sequencing, robotics and/or quality management would be an advantage. You must be meticulous, a good communicator and able to organise yourself.
  • Adhere to and develop safe working practices and be aware of appropriate health & safety legislation.
  • Ensure that the Senior Scientist is kept appraised, primarily via email/teams but also via meetings.
  • Help with organisation of samples and consumables.

Preferred Educational Background:

  • Undergrad/BSc Level qualified in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry etc)

Skills:

  • Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customer personality types.
  • Efficient time management skills with the ability to stay focused on primary business objectives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficient use of standard office software
  • Ability to meet deadlines

This role is located in Granta Park, near Cambridge, UK, and is a 12 month internship
