I can also see what a key appointment this will be for their already successful business. Syme Drummond has been retained by this high growth IT services SME business based in Bellshill as they seek to appoint an HR Director.

This role will report into the CEO and working closely with the COO and will manage a small high performing team.

Role Overview

The HR Director will create and lead the People agenda across the business and will have full responsibility for all Human Resources activity across the organisation. You will design and drive the people agenda to build a fantastic place to work through embedding a growth mindset and making the organisation a destination to attract and retain market leading people. Key areas of focus will include building an excellent employer brand, driving a robust and innovative recruitment and selection strategy in order to strengthen their talent pipelines across the organisation through a growth mindset, creating and building a Training Academy to support organic and external talent pipelines, advancing employee engagement at all levels and embedding their culture and values as a mindset across the organisation.

This role requires an HR Director who thrives working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. You will be responsible for formulating and executing the People strategy, to ensure and improve best practices to support high performance working closely with the CEO and leadership team. The HR Director will have demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution and have significant leadership experience to drive results quickly, providing operational direction and input into business strategic decisions.

The HR Director will be the go-to person for all people related issues. This means that your HR Director responsibilities will involve driving and shaping a people centric, values led HR function within an agile, growth sector organisation that will enable their Senior Leadership Team and their employees to be the very best at what they do. You will lead on managing and delivering results on areas such as Recruitment and Retention, Leadership Development, Learning and Development, Change Management, Performance Management, People Engagement and all aspects of the HR process across a commercial business.

You will promote the business values and shape a positive culture to help the business grow whilst maintaining the culture. This role will build and deliver the people strategy and foster a culture of leadership. You will manage people through a period of growth while instilling the values the business has been built on.

This role will partner with the CEO and leadership team to provide best practice HR expertise, ensuring delivery and implementation of the annual people plan. This role will ultimately be responsible for finding , developing , retaining and exciting outstanding talent as well as ensuring the effective delivery of a comprehensive modern and forward thinking HR service to the business, including the provision of up-to-date commercial advice, guidance and support, considering HR best practice and legislation and ensuring at all times that the company brand is associated with HR excellence.

The Successful Applicant will demonstrate the following experience:

  • Strategic leader with extensive HR expertise in a complex client facing organisation and a proven track record of leading through major change
  • Ideally sector experience gained within the IT Services/Tech sectors
  • In-depth knowledge, skills and experience with HR transformation enablers and their applications, including HR strategy, service delivery, cultural change, communications and engagement strategies.
  • Excellent understanding of latest HR trends, strategy, how the role of HR is changing, and the digital enablers required to add value to our organisation, and the ability to implement and manage compliance efforts in respect of employment laws and regulation
  • Be credible and have gravitas to operate at the C-suite, with the ability to demonstrate integrity and excellent interpersonal skills - must be compassionate, self- aware, and able to skilfully manage their emotions and those of others
  • Strong consulting acumen, excellent communication, facilitation and data analysis skills to influence others.
  • Solid HR expertise and evidence of attracting, hiring and retaining top talent, with a focus on diversity and inclusion as a competitive business advantage; embedding culture and shared values across the organisation; supporting business leaders to address HR operational issues such as employee relations, compensation and total reward, employee engagement, talent and performance management as well as learning interventions.
  • Demonstrating solid insights and good judgement when solving business problems and the ability to build trusted relationships, and manage stakeholders, both internally and externally to our organisation with clear ability to influence others.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning, have an innovative mindset, and bring new ways of working across a diverse talent pool to optimise work and performance
  • Be able to guide our senior leaders on how an outstanding HR function can be a differentiator.
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to establish good working relationships and collaboration across the company, both multi-discipline consulting capabilities and business lines.
  • Must be hard working, resilient, and used to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Change experience - designing and implementing cultural change programmes with success
  • M&A experience would be an advantage
