A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a strategic, hands-on and dedicated HR Business Partner to join a highly regarded, nationwide group of businesses on a permanent basis during a time of rapid growth and change.

This role will be focused on delivering a best in class colleague experience and creating a culture and organisation that enables the business to continue to grow and scale up.

This is a true generalist role that will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work in the detail and get the operational HR foundations right and partner with leadership, inputting into the commercial and strategic success of the business. The successful candidate will be able to put their on stamp on the role and make it their own.

This role will be part of the businesses’ central team, and will work closely with Managing Directors and Divisional Heads across the multiple businesses.

As the company sites are spread across the UK, there is no specific desirable location, however, the ideal candidate will live close to the M1 or M62. The role will offer hybrid working, with travel required nationwide when necessary.

Duties will include:

  • Closely partner with the Leadership team to develop and execute the commercial strategy of the business
  • Work with leadership across all aspects of the employee life cycle from hire to retire
  • Work with leadership and hiring managers to attract, recruit and onboard diverse talent successfully
  • Define the talent strategy and a colleague experience in line with the overall business strategy
  • Work with management on organisation design and succession planning to ensure the right people are in the right roles to support business goals
  • Develop performance management and training solutions to help develop and retain talent at all levels
  • Manage compliance requirements closely with Finance to ensure the appropriate training is in place and delivered
  • Develop HR policies and processes to support best-practice and a consistent colleagues experience across the business
  • Maintain the HR system and colleague data, actively looking for opportunities to make system improvements
  • Oversee and partner closely with Finance on the execution of payroll ensuring robust control checks are in place
  • Oversee pension and benefits, managing relationships with benefits providers, communicating with businesses and administering appropriate compliance
  • Lead, support and coach the business with compassion and empathy through change, putting plans in place for any change management projects
  • Lead communications and engagement initiatives to attract and retain talent
  • Provide confidential HR support and advice to all colleagues
  • Develop and drive our Environmental, Social and Governance approach and initiatives across the group, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Environment and Safety
  • Partner with leadership to support the integration of new acquisitions into the business
  • Build a strong people culture through the business
  • As a member of the senior management team, embody our culture and values

Person Specification:

  • CIPD qualified HR professional with 7+ years experience
  • Background in industrial / retail background preferred and/or experience in scaling a business
  • Change management and acquisition experience desired
  • Experience of working within a company during times of change and rapid growth
  • Ability to look at and implement policies and procedures
  • Broad range of HR experience across generalist and specialist functions
  • Pragmatic and commercial approach
  • Independent, self-starter and pro-active
  • Collaborative team player
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, able to build relationships at all levels of an organisation
  • High level of integrity and can build trust with colleagues at all levels

Salary is up to £75,000 per annum, depending one experience, plus benefits.
