PART TIME (20 hours per week) Worded over 3-4 days between Monday - Friday
TERM TIME ONLY (39 weeks per year - term time plus 5 days)
Payscale: Scale 2, Point 3 (£10,557)

The Principal and Governors of this highly successful, oversubscribed 11-16 college are seeking to appoint a HR & Payroll Assistant to work within the school to provide an excellent level of service to staff, students and parents/carers. This individual will contribute towards the excellent provision that is already in place across the administrative team.

We are looking for an individual who is:
Flexible and adaptable in approach to work with the ability to multi-task
Meticulous and accurate
Excellent attention to detail
Good communicator and personable
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise

Key skills & competency requirements
An understanding of payroll processes is advantageous.
Strong MS Outlook, Excel and Word skills are essential
Flexibility with hours in peak periods is essential
Experience of HR administration is desirable although not essential

Education/Qualification
Good standard of formal education
Above average literacy and numeracy
CIPD or equivalent desirable

JOB DESCRIPTION - HR & PAYROLL ASSISTANT
Job purpose
To support and enhance the college HR & Payroll provision.

The postholder is responsible to the:
Principal/Governing body in all matters;
HR & Payroll Officer

Specific Responsibilities for this post:
HR Administration

Process all new starters and leavers
Process all paperwork associated with employment changes and variations to contracts
Assist to create and maintain all employee personnel files, ensuring all information held in line with the Data
Protection Act
Assist to maintain the Single Central Record of safeguarding checks for staff and all other relevant persons
Assist with the recruitment process
Support the administration of annual pay reviews, surveys and HR statistics
Maintain the HR database including sick absence reporting
Support the HR & Payroll Officer with all additional HR administration and office requirements.

Payroll
Assist or process (as required) monthly payroll with the external payroll provider
Assist with entering variable overtime and expense payments
Maintain a secure and orderly electronic filing system of all payroll data
Deal with employee salary and payroll queries in the absence of the HR & Payroll Officer
Chase line managers for missing information as required.
Any other payroll duties as required

Other duties
Handle strictly confidential information with absolute discretion
Undertake a range of other duties when required to support the administrative function across the college (E.g.
Reception cover, student supervision, exam invigilation, reprographics support etc.)

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: From £11.79 per hour
