Job Title: HR Assistant Location: Coventry Contract type: Permanent Up to £28,000 dependent on your experience

The HR Assistant helps to provide an efficient and effective HR service as the first point of contact to line managers and staff on HR issues.

Duties & Responsibilities for the HR Assistant:

  • Undertaking general daily HR and clerical duties and providing advice and guidance as appropriate involving recruitment, probation, correspondence with employees
  • Keeping digital personal files up to date in line with GDPR, general staffing issues, attending general HR meetings and providing cover for the HR Officer, as necessary.
  • Provide advice and guidance to line managers on general HR issues, including terms and conditions, annual leave etc.
  • Responsible for the inputting and monitoring of data for staff in the School on MIS and SuccessFactors. Liaising with staff in central HR and the Payroll team on payroll queries.
  • Work with the HR Officer using information generated by the central HR team to ensure the appropriate management of contracts such as indefinite linked to funding, fixed term contracts, probation, study leave etc.
  • Support with coordinating training programmes and events, liaising with room bookings, facilitators and attendees, attending on the day to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Person Specification for the HR Assistant:

  • Sound general education to A level standard. GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
  • Excellent IT skills including all MS Office applications. Knowledge of HR systems
  • Demonstrable ability to work to tight deadlines, work under pressure, prioritise own workload and manage competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues at all level
  • Demonstrable ability to check accuracy and possess terrific attention to detail
  • Foundation level CIPD qualification with a commitment to working towards the CIPD Intermediate/Advanced qualifications
  • Experience of working in a HR environment, dealing with staff issues or providing advice and guidance to employees or line managers
  • Demonstrable ability to deal with sensitive and highly confidential issues
