NSCG are looking to recruit a Business Admin apprentice to assist with HR and payroll enquiries in the Human Resources Department at Newcastle College.

  • To maintain and update HR documents.
  • To capture data in order to maintain and update the computerised HR database, payroll documentation, absence management systems, vacancy monitoring systems and staffing statistics.
  • To maintain, monitor, check and update general staffing records and individual staff files (eg absence, annual leave, new starters, leavers, contract changes and volunteer / placements).
  • To deal with the administration of the Colleges DBS / vetting procedures, including checking of ID, right to work documentation and recording associated information onto computerised HR & screening systems.
  • To follow approved procedures, in relation to the appointment, induction, probation, retirement, dismissal or resignation of staff and for all other variations to terms of employment.
  • To have a basic understanding of the Colleges HR Policies & Procedures in order to direct employees to the appropriate information as requested.
  • To follow regular procedures as laid down and required by the College auditors (eg. HR and payroll variations, absence inputting etc) and to meet deadlines as required.
  • To place orders onto the Colleges electronic purchasing system as directed by your line manager.
  • To deal with Professional Development administration (booking forms, rail warrants, requisitions and invoices) and updating development records.
  • To deal with general, HR and payroll enquiries directed to the Human Resources Department in a professional, efficient and confidential manner.
  • To be aware of, and comply with, all College procedures relating to health and safety, and the evacuation of the College in the event of fire and other emergencies.
  • To follow the College’s safeguarding procedure taking appropriate action where necessary.
  • To check and maintain filing systems, ensuring that all data is recorded and stored in the appropriate place.
  • To undertake miscellaneous other duties which may arise from time to time and which are commensurate with the post.
