At The Hostel we provide comfortable accommodation at great rates! We understand that whether travelling as a tourist, backpacker or getting away with friends, comfort and budget are high on the list of priorities…we provide that and more, in the most stylish and funky hostel in Edinburgh! We are looking for a new live in hostel manager to join our small, friendly team.

The Hostel, requires enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are hungry for success. Candidate will be available for immediate start.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of hostel guests, staff, and the hostel as a whole. You will oversee the daily activity of our hostel as well as take a leading role in refining our operation and creating a unique travel experience for our guests.

The right candidate will also ensure the highest levels of hospitality and service are provided during their shift.

Responsibilities include however are not limited to;

· Ensuring the smooth running of the hostel’s facilities, including the safety and well-being of guests

· Liaising with guests and residents in the hostel, dealing with any requests, problems and resolving complaints in a polite and professional manner

· Train, supervise, and evaluate staff in areas of guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance

· Taking telephone calls/messages/bookings

· Support hostel staff in enforcing hostel rules, guidelines, and policy

· Taking payments and providing information about the hostel’s facilities

· Welcoming guests and organising check-ins and check outs

· Answer emails and telephone calls in a professional manner (including guest enquiries, suppliers etc).

· Manage stock levels of cleaning and communal food items and order supplies

· Liaise with other departments within the business

· Arrange repairs and maintenance of the facilities

· Inspect the accommodation to ensure that hygiene and health and safety regulations are met

· Control difficult situations and difficult personalities requiring management or law enforcement intervention

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the building

· Front desk duties

· Effective management and pricing of the available inventory

· Managing and maintaining appropriate staffing levels

· Cashing up at the end of each shift

· Some light cleaning duties

· Basic catering duties

· Encourage guests to use online review sites to give feedback on their stay e.g. Trip Advisor

· Communicate honestly and work collaboratively with other managers and owners regarding business operations

You must be smart and professional at all times, with a great ’can do’ attitude. You will need to have excellent and confident communication skills and the ability to supervise a team as well as work as team.

You will be the first and final point of contact for the guests. Their first and final impression is important to the reputation and future of the hostel! When managing the hostel your main responsibility is to ensure every guests’ needs are met, problems are fixed and that all guests experience a feeling of great customer service and friendship.

On the job training will be provided, experience is not essential.

We will offer free breakfast.

Accommodation: This is a live-inposition.

This position will be a minimum of 45 hours per week.
