This is an exciting opportunity for a Night Hospital ProtectionOfficer to join our Team in Carlisle

Hours: 4 on 4 off Nights, but flexibility to assist on day shifts preferred.

Pay: £13.15 per hour

Location: Carlisle, Cumbria

Job Overview

  • The ultimate goal of the Hospital Protection Team is to ensure the safety of the area they are assigned to watch. Their duties include monitoring the premises, responding to emergency situations and keeping track of all incidents on-site, using our integrated technology systems.
  • Officers are responsible for providing safety and security to both staff and visitors alike.

Your main responsibilities may include:

  • Patrolling the site premises.
  • To protect our customer’s property
  • Providing security services in direct accordance with the sites.
  • Look out for Incidents and immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards.
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and demanding customers.
  • Complete an accurate, detailed DOB entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.

Please be aware you will be required to:

  • Ensure patient confidentiality
  • Reporting incidents in a timely manner, making sure they are thorough and comprehensive, complying with GDPR
  • Deal with mental health patients on a daily basis so experience in this area would be preferred
  • Chose appropriate times for your break
  • Completion of digital logs using mobile devices

The ideal candidate will be thorough, have previous experience and recognize how to react quickly.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

  • SIA License.
  • 5-year checkable work/career history.
  • Experience in a similar role, would be an advantage
  • Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure.

Training

  • Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
  • To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
  • Use technology to achieve key work targets and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
  • You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety

  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and demanding customers.
  • Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate responsibility to Mitie and the Client.
  • To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI’s).
  • To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
