Live News Editor-We are looking for a Homepage Editor who will manage The Scottish Sun homepage to ensure it is packed with outstanding and engaging news to draw readers in and maximise traffic. You will strive to constantly improve the quality of publishing on thescottishsun.co.uk as well as grow the audience and increase engagement.

Your Role: The Homepage Editor will be responsible for managing thescottishsun.co.uk homepage to ensure it is packed with the best content each day.
Day to day you will:
Manage thescottishsun.co.uk homepage to ensure the highest standard of presentation in headlines and pictures to maximise traffic
Constantly review and improve the quality of stories, checking for updates, fresh lines and images, particularly on large live and breaking stories
Have an instinct for how to ‘sell’ a digital story to get maximum impact on The Scottish Sun’s platforms and social media
Monitor analytics and news feeds to ensure the best content is surfaced on the homepage and placed in the optimal position to engage our audience
Effectively recirculate readers within The Scottish Sun and keep them absorbed with our content
Work closely with the Live Night News Editor and Social Media team to ensure high standards are maintained and given maximum exposure on all social platforms
Be responsible for push notifications and keeping our readers up to date with the latest breaking stories straight to their phones
What we’re looking for from you:
Experience of a senior desk role within a fast-paced news operation
A razor sharp news sense and sound judgement
A creative mind, a way with words and an eye for detail
Ability to produce a flow of arresting headlines and eye-catching kickers
Calm under pressure and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively in breaking news scenarios
Subbing experience and a flair for presenting stories visually
Understanding of digital media, trends and audience behaviours
An expert knowledge of legal issues, the Editors’ Code of Practice and IPSO standards
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage day-to-day tasks and forward planning
Experience effectively managing or leading a team through motivation, understanding and good communication
Be flexible working across 7 days
