New Life Church is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to oversee their homeless services.

New Life is a church committed to transforming people and places through the love and power of Jesus Christ. We take caring for our urban & rural setting very seriously and as such have grown a portfolio of initiatives large and small which meet local needs. The most developed of these services is New Life’s homeless provision which has housed over 1700 people and resourced many others.

The role will involve managing an established 24/7 hostel and its team, developing the severe weather provision New Life provides for the local authority, growing a portfolio of smaller targeted homelessness initiatives, and representing New Life within external homelessness forums.

We are keen to expand the organisational structures within this team presenting the Homeless Services Manager with an opportunity to recruit their own management team.
Role Description
Job Title: Homeless Services Manager
Reports to:
Contracted Hours: 28 hours per week
Contract Length: Permanent
Salary: £24,000
Primary Site: The Lighthouse, 203-205 Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe, DN15 7NH
Closing Date: 17th July 2021
Interview Date: 26th-30th July 2021
Probationary Period: 6 Months
Direct Reports: 7 Full Time Equivalents
The applicant will have a good track record of managing a team in a demanding setting, understand the complexities & dynamics of homelessness and have experience of providing social care as an outworking of the Christian faith.
The applicant will display an ability to foster a culture which aims to break the cycle of homelessness for those accessing services, provide necessary life skills to service users and grow an aspirational and effective staff team and volunteer pool.

Experience Needed in this post:
A minimum of 2 years management / supervisory experience in a social care or church setting (Essential)
NVQ Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care (Desirable)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a post supporting outreach services, hostel provision or a residential setting (Essential)
Demonstrable experience of effectively managing, leading, motivating and inspiring staff (Essential)
Relevant knowledge or experience of working with the following client groups: mental health; substance misuse; repeat homelessness (Essential)
Previous experience of multi-agency working (Essential)
Experience of measuring individual development with the Outcome Star (Desirable)
Driver with access to own vehicle (Essential)
Understanding of Safeguarding procedures and legislation within statutory and non-statutory services
Have a valid D.B.S certificate
Be a professing and practicing Christian (the role carries a Genuine Occupational Requirement being a face of newLife within local external settings)
