Homeland Security is one of the three policy missions working to deliver the Home Office’s vision for a safe, fair and prosperous United Kingdom.
We deliver a breadth of strategic initiatives and provide systems leadership across government. We work particularly closely with our operational partners including:
· MI5

· Counter Terrorism Police
· National Crime Agency
We are recruiting for a number of roles covering a range of disciplines including (but not limited to) Policy, Strategy and Delivery. Some of these roles will have a specific tech focus. These roles are incredibly rewarding with the opportunity to make a real difference in many key areas of national security:
The type of work you could be responsible for includes:
· Working on the development and implementation of strategies, policies and legislation on some of the most serious risks facing the UK;
· Producing high quality advice and drafting briefing for senior officials and Ministers;
· Regular engagement with operational colleagues in Border Force, law enforcement and the Security and Intelligence agencies to understand current practices and the impact of any potential changes;
· Working through the implications of technological change (such as AI) on homeland security, ensuring we mitigate risks and take advantage of opportunities.
· Working with stakeholders and international partners to help develop fully integrated strategies;
· Monitoring risks and areas of concern and taking appropriate action to escalate and address these;
· Supporting the oversight of work with colleagues from other Departments and operational agencies to provide positive policy responses and suitable solutions to challenges;
· Line management responsibilities.
Essential criteria
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate:
· Skills in developing or implementing one or more of the following: evidence-based strategies, policies, legislation or technological change which impacts policy.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, using language to clearly articulate recommendations in strategy documents, briefings, papers, and presentations.
· Strong interpersonal skills and experience of stakeholder management with senior leaders.
· Ability to manage and develop individuals to get the best out of people to deliver key outcomes.
· Experience of working in a changing environment and planning, collaborating, and delivering through others to meet deadlines on multiple pieces of work.
