Interim Highways Inspector - Engineering and Surveying Reference no: Oxfordshire 5220531 Pay rate: Up to £25.00 per hour PAYE depending on experience Car driver with valid license and insurance or ability to travel throughout the county Highway Maintenance Officer required to help develop maintenance works programmes and assist and implement small scale highway and drainage repairs. Responsible for ensuring that all relevant county policies and procedures are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies. Key responsibilities:
- Develop maintenance works programmes and assist and implement small scale highway and drainage repairs.
- Pro-actively deliver the element of the service in all aspects of successful project delivery.
- Act as a supporting member of the team within the identified field of the job.
- Maintain excellent, effective working relationships with stakeholders and operational teams.
- Manage own workload and the resources required to ensure successful project delivery.
- Assume direct responsibility for budget monitoring.
- Promote a strong customer service focus within the Service and where possible take account of customer requirements.
- Promote and deliver improved communication with individual residents, communities, other local authorities and key stakeholders, in ways that are clear, coherent and jargon free.
- Provide necessary information for performance management measures.
- Remain contemporary with legislation and best practice and ensure that relevant initiatives are adopted to develop the effectiveness of the service.
- Experience of working within the specified area of expertise.
- Education to level 4 NVQ or equivalent in a related discipline or experience of working in a local government environment for a period of 5 years.
- Appropriate specific technical qualifications related to the service such as monitoring street works or an arboricultural qualification (not an exhaustive list).
- Experience of managing schemes and projects.
- Ability to use word processing, spread sheets and presentation software
- Experience of carrying out data collection and analysis.
- Basic budget management skills.
- Knowledge of the latest legislative requirements as they relate to the identified specialist field.
- Ability to communicate to other people with confidence and in ways that are clear and jargon free.
- Ability to drive and the possession of a current driving licence and car, or ability to demonstrate an effective means of travel to remote areas of the county, are essential.
