Summary of Role

A position for a Higher Scientific Officer is available from April 2022 in the Molecular & Systems Oncology Team (Huang Lab) in The Institute of Cancer Research based in Sutton. The objective of this post is to provide high-level technical support for lung cancer projects that are currently underway in the laboratory. These projects focus on understanding kinase inhibitor drug resistance in lung cancer and will require extensive implementation of multiple cell and molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with state-of-the-art facilities.

Key Requirements

Applicants will hold a MSc. or PhD in Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology or a similar discipline. Applicants holding a MSc. are expected to have significant post-qualification experience in a relevant discipline. Applicants must have good laboratory and analytical skills with experience in working in a collaborative environment. Extensive experience in cell culture techniques (including phenotypic assays e.g. growth & migration assays, high-throughput/high-content microscopy, flow cytometry) and standard molecular biology approaches (cloning, RNAi, CRISPR, immunoblotting) is essential. Excellent organisational and communication skills are required for this position. In addition, experience in patient-derived models (primary cells) and genetic screens (e.g. CRISPR screens) would be desirable.
