  • Must have Category C licence, digital tachograph card and CPC
Please Note: Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK

A more flexible driving career

At Bidfood, we believe in making life easier for our people, as well as our customers. So, for those with both the driving skills and the people skills we’re looking for, we want to be flexible.

You’ll be working 3 days a week on one of the following shifts:
  • Saturday, Sunday and Mondays Days from 5am
  • Term Time Only
  • Night Drivers, working Monday, Wednesday and Friday starting at 5pm
  • Night Drivers, working Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays starting at 5pm
The role

You’ll be delivering great food and other catering products to a huge range of customers across your region, from restaurants and pubs, to schools, care homes and hospitals.

Our vehicles are all kitted out with the latest tech, including telematics, but you’ll have to use plenty of initiative to find the drop off points.

Once there, you’ll usually be delivering the goods straight to the chefs and managers who make the orders – so building up a good rapport with them is important. You’ll be the one transferring the goods from your lorry to the customers’ kitchens, too, on cages stacked with pallets.

Some orders can be large, so it’s a job with a real physical element. Health and safety is our top priority and so we will ensure you’ll have all the latest training and PPE you will need to carry out these responsibilities safely.

What You’ll Need

You’ll be efficient and organised; you need to enjoy the challenge of being given a lorry full of goods and getting it to the right people at the right time. Personality is key. You’ll interact with the customers at every drop off – so you’ll need to enjoy meeting them, and doing all you can to make their life easier. Plus, you need to able to move sometimes heavy cages and pallets about.

Qualifications-wise, you need a category C LGV License. You’ll also have your digital tachograph driver card and your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), or be willing to train for it. We’ll pay for ongoing CPC development to help you keep these qualifications up to date.

The training

We won’t throw you in at the deep end. We’ll train you on the systems we use and the products we deliver, show you round our tech, from touch screen PDAs to our telematics system, and run you through every aspect of your vehicle. Then we’ll set you up with a buddy driver to learn on the job for at least two weeks, until you’re ready to go out on the road on your own.

The Benefits

You’ll be home every night. It’s a 3 shifts in 7 days model, but the majority of your shifts will fall Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday working.

There’s 33 days’ paid holiday pro rata, great healthcare benefits, pension, and an exclusive range of over 4,000 high street discounts.
